Tori Spelling is teaching her kids to take the high road.
The mother of five revealed to People Magazine that one of her children had a rough start to the school year.
“My kids just went back to school and just when you think one got through it, one of my other children was bullied on the first day of school,” Spelling, 49, told the outlet. “I felt like with the one, we just got through it and we are really working on re-boosting her confidence and just bringing out her skills.”
Spelling has been outspoken about the bullying her 14-year-old daughter, Stella, has faced over the years, but knows the “route” she takes with her other child might look a bit different.
“Our kids have to deal with a lot,” she said, adding that even teachers have scrutinized her children. “They’re dealing with in-person bullying from their peers, but then they’re dealing with social bullying from adults, even other parents.”
However, that’s where the “Beverly Hills 90210” alum says she “draws the line.”
“I’ll speak up, any day of the week, I’ll step up and say something,” the actress continued. “It’s hard because we’re taught that professionals, or for kids adults, are experts in their given field. They know better.”
Spelling went on to say as a person who just wants “everyone to get along,” she has had to step out of her “comfort zone” throughout this experience in order to support her kids.
“You have to trust yourself as the parent because you’re going to be your kids’ biggest advocate,” she told the outlet. “And that’s why I teach my kids. I’m here for them now but I want to teach them to be their own best advocate when they’re adults.”
While Tori didn’t disclose which one her five kids — Beau, 5, Finn and Hattie, both 10, Stella, 14, and Liam, 15 — was dealing with bullies, she said they’re taking it “one day at a time.”
Spelling shares all of her children with her husband, Dean McDermott, although the couple sparked divorce rumors over the last year.
In October 2021, Spelling fueled split speculations when she was seen shouting outside of a lawyer’s office with a notepad that had the words “custody,” “support” and “assets” written on it.
However, last week the couple were spotted together for the first time in nearly a year while stopping to pick up pizza.
The pair looked smitten as they flashed big smiles and their wedding bands — which they had been previously spotted without.
The pair’s relationship seemingly took a turn for the better in recent months, as McDermott, 55, was seen flirting with Spelling on a July episode of her reality show, “@Home With Tori.”
Spelling and McDermott tied the knot in May 2006 just a year after meeting on the set of “Mind Over Murder.”
