Singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, became angry recently with an up and coming singer, Dontoffy, for allegedly stealing the content of his song, For You, and selling it on streaming platforms. He went on social media to condemn the artiste and told him to take the song down or risk being sued. The title of the said song is, Anything for the Mulla.
Explaining why he got angry, Skales said, “I didn’t intend to attack him as it appeared; I just wanted to make it straight that it was wrong to remake another artiste’s music and sell it. It is better you call it a cover or you take permission like I did with my recent single, O Crazy. I sampled Wande Coal and Dr. Sid’s songs, but I went to Don Jazzy to take permission before releasing it. I think it is just normal to do that.”
Admitting that he overreacted on social media, Skales said, “I am not a violent person; I know I overreacted and I am sorry about that. It is now left for my team to handle things; my job is to make music. But I feel we do not take copyright infringement seriously in this part of the world and it should not be so.”
